Thirty-five years on from the first burn on a San Francisco beach, there are now more than a hundred Burning Man events held annually around the world. Most people have never heard of any of them.

In 2018 Roxane Jessi set out to spend a year at seven of these regional events across five continents including Argentina, Australia, Israel, Japan, South Africa, Spain and the US.

The book is an account of what she found there. Each event borrows the same principles and builds something local out of them, shaped by the place it happens in and the people who turn up. Art is the common currency, used as a creative outlet, to build community, and for collective healing.
